As we come to the end of another wonderful school year, I have found myself reflecting on what makes our school such a special place. Whilst there have been many memorable achievements, exciting events and moments of celebration, what makes me feel most proud is seeing our children embody our school values each and every day. Kindness, respect, resilience and responsibility are not simply words displayed on our walls; they are values that our children genuinely live and breathe. They shape the way our children learn, play and care for one another, and they are evident in countless moments throughout every school day.
Kindness
Kindness is woven into the fabric of our school community. It is demonstrated in the small, thoughtful gestures that often go unnoticed, as well as the bigger acts of compassion and support that make such a difference to others. One of my favourite ways we celebrate this is through our 'Cup of Kindness' award, where both children and staff take the time to 'catch' acts of kindness and recognise them. Whether it is including someone in a game, helping a friend who is finding something difficult, or simply offering words of encouragement, our children consistently show that kindness is a choice they make every single day.
Resilience
Resilience has shone through in so many ways this year, but nowhere was it more evident than during our Year 5 residential visit to Willersley Castle. The children challenged themselves with a wide range of adventurous activities, many of which took them well beyond their comfort zones. They showed incredible determination, courage and perseverance, encouraging one another every step of the way. Watching them face their fears, embrace new experiences and celebrate their achievements reminded us all that resilience is about believing in yourself, learning from setbacks and never giving up.
Responsibility
Our Year 6 Enterprise Day provided a wonderful example of responsibility in action. The children took ownership of every aspect of the event, from planning and organising their stalls to welcoming customers and managing their businesses throughout the day. Their creativity, teamwork and maturity were exceptional, and it was a pleasure to see them providing such enjoyable experiences for the younger children across the school. They approached every task with enthusiasm and pride, demonstrating that responsibility is about taking ownership, working together and striving to do your very best.
Looking Back
As I reflect on the year, I am reminded that our greatest successes are not measured solely by results or achievements, but by the people our children are becoming. Every day they show us what it means to be kind, respectful, resilient and responsible, and in doing so they create the caring, ambitious and supportive school community that we are all so proud to be part of. To our children, staff and families, thank you for making this another remarkable year. I wish you all a happy, restful summer and look forward to seeing what we will achieve together in the year ahead.

This Term in Buttercup
What a wonderful and exciting term we have had so far in Buttercup! Our topic has been Sun, Sea and Sand, and the children have loved exploring this through stories, role play, science, maths and lots of hands-on learning.
One of the highlights has been our seaside café, where the children used their imagination brilliantly.  They enjoyed taking orders, making seaside treats and pretending they were spending the day by the sea.
We have also really enjoyed reading The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. The children thought the pesky seagulls were very funny and loved thinking of clever ways to stop them from stealing Mr Grinling’s lunch. A very memorable moment was trying a mustard sandwich, which caused lots of funny faces and helped us think of some fantastic describing words!
The children have worked hard in Maths, exploring mass, capacity and time, while also revisiting previous learning. We have also become animal explorers, learning about animals that live in the ocean and animals that live on land.
 As part of our animal learning, we had a fantastic time visiting the zoo. The children loved seeing so many amazing animals, including monkeys, flamingos, bears, leopards and cheetahs. It was a brilliant way to bring our learning to life and make lovely memories together.

What a fantastic way to finish the year! Daisy Class have continued to work incredibly hard and have enjoyed lots of exciting learning experiences during our final term together.
In History, we have loved learning all about the Space Race. The children discovered how countries competed to explore space, learnt about the first satellite, the first people and animals to travel into space, and explored the incredible achievements of the Apollo 11 Moon landing.
In English, the children have been developing their writing skills through a sequence of lessons based on an interview with Neil Armstrong. They have worked hard to write thoughtful questions and detailed answers using everything they have learnt about his historic journey to the Moon.
 In Maths, our Year 2 children have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes, exploring their properties, while our Year 1 children have been building their understanding of place value to 100 using practical resources and representations.
 In Science, we have been learning about food chains and how living things depend on one another for survival. Our visit to Twycross Zoo was a real highlight, giving the children the opportunity to see many of the animals they had been learning about and bringing their Science learning to life.
The children also worked incredibly hard for our class assembly, performing with confidence and making everyone very proud. In PSHE, we have been preparing for transition into new classes, reflecting on the year and looking forward to the exciting opportunities ahead.
As we reach the end of the school year, I would like to say how proud I am of everything Daisy Class have achieved. It has been a pleasure to watch the children grow in confidence, resilience and independence, and I know they will continue to flourish in Year 2 and Year 3. Thank you to all the parents and carers for your support this year, and thank you to the staff, children and families of Little Harrowden Primary School for your kindness and support over the past five years. As I say goodbye, I will take many happy memories with me and wish all the children every success and happiness for the future.

As we come to the end of another fantastic school year, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible year it has been for everyone in Primrose Class. We are all so proud of how much the children have grown, not only in their learning but also as individuals. Throughout the year they have developed into a kind, caring and supportive classroom community, always encouraging one another, showing respect and demonstrating our school values every day. It has been a pleasure to watch their confidence blossom and see the wonderful friendships they have built along the way.
One of the highlights of this half term was our school trip. The children represented the school brilliantly, demonstrating excellent behaviour, enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the day. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and made the most of every opportunity to learn. Our visit has also linked perfectly with our Science learning this term, where we have been exploring Humans, Including Animals. We have investigated which animals have bones, compared vertebrates and invertebrates, and learned about the differences between skeletons, exoskeletons and animals without skeletons. The children have asked thoughtful questions and enjoyed applying what they discovered during our trip to their classroom learning.
In Maths, we have been focusing on shape. It has been wonderful to see the children recalling knowledge from previous year groups with confidence before building on this understanding further. They have explored the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, identified lines of symmetry and used mathematical vocabulary accurately to explain their thinking. We have been impressed with their perseverance and growing confidence when solving shape-based challenges.
Our Writing lessons have included several exciting flash writes, which the children have absolutely loved. These short, creative writing opportunities have encouraged them to use their imaginations and write with enthusiasm. One particular favourite involved imagining sneaky animals secretly entering a cinema at night! The children produced some wonderfully imaginative ideas, full of humour, creativity and descriptive language, and it has been fantastic to watch their confidence as writers continue to grow.
In Art, we have been learning all about colour. The children explored the colour wheel, discussing primary and secondary colours before creating their own colourful versions. Alongside this, we have continued to develop our drawing skills by practising careful observation, adding detail and improving our control and confidence when sketching.
As we reach the end of the year, we would like to say a huge thank you for all of your continued support. It has been a truly wonderful year filled with memorable moments, fantastic achievements and so much laughter. Watching the children grow in confidence, kindness and independence has been an absolute privilege.
We wish every member of Primrose Class the very best of luck as they move on to their next adventure. We know they will continue to shine and make us proud.

This term, Year 4 have worked incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum and should be very proud of everything they have achieved.
In English, the children explored the exciting story Secrets of the Sun King and developed their understanding of character and setting by writing thoughtful diary entries from the perspective of Maya. They worked hard to include descriptive language and convey Maya’s thoughts and feelings throughout her adventures.
In Maths, the class has built confidence in a range of important topics, including decimals, money, time and shape. They have developed their problem-solving skills and applied their learning to a variety of practical and reasoning challenges.
In Science, Year 4 investigated nature and the environment, learning about the importance of protecting our natural world and exploring how to classify living things based on observable characteristics.
In Art, the children discovered how paper can be transformed into creative sculptures using a variety of folding, rolling and shaping techniques. They demonstrated excellent imagination and perseverance, producing some fantastic three-dimensional artwork.
It has been a busy and successful term, and I am incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, resilience and creativity that Year 4 have shown in all their learning.

It is hard to believe we have reached the end of another fantastic year! Summer Term has been filled with exciting learning, creativity and memorable experiences. In English, we explored the inspiring life of Greta Thunberg by writing biographies, then later in the term we stepped into the shoes of reporters to write newspaper articles. We first travelled back to 1912 to report on the launch of the Titanic, before returning to the present day to review our Year 5/6 production of Robin Hood and the Sherwood Hoodies. The children fully embraced their roles as journalists, producing some imaginative and professional articles that showcased just how far their writing has come this year. In Maths, we explored  position and direction, converting units and completed an exciting investigation involving negative numbers, with the children demonstrating increasing confidence in applying their mathematical reasoning.
In Science, we learnt about human development, exploring the changes that take place from embryo to old age. The children worked scientifically by sorting information using Venn diagrams, creating tables and designing informative posters to share their learning with others. Our Geography topic encouraged us to think carefully about how humans are changing the environment and, most importantly, how we can all make a positive difference. In RE, we explored Christianity, learning about the different ways Christians show commitment to God. Through discussion, games and even reenacting a baptism, the children developed a thoughtful understanding of this important aspect of the Christian faith. In French, we worked hard learning how to talk about family members and describe their likes and dislikes, with everyone showing excellent perseverance as their language skills continued to grow.
A huge highlight of the term has undoubtedly been preparing for our Year 5/6 production of Robin Hood and the Sherwood Hoodies. Whether taking on speaking roles with confidence or performing as part of the chorus, every single child has contributed to making the show a tremendous success.  It has been wonderful to watch their confidence grow as they learned songs, dances and lines, with Men in Tights proving to be a firm class favourite! Throughout rehearsals, the children have shown dedication, enthusiasm and respect, supporting one another and giving every performance their very best.
I could not be prouder of everything they have achieved this year. Although it is always sad to say goodbye to such a wonderful class, I know they are more than ready for the exciting challenges of Year 6, and I cannot wait to see them continue to flourish. Wishing all of our Orchid families a wonderful, relaxing summer break, and thank you for all of your support throughout the year.

Lavender Class have had an incredibly busy and exciting final term, filled with creativity, teamwork and lots of memorable Year 6 moments.
The children worked incredibly hard to prepare for Enterprise Day, designing and organising stalls for the rest of the school to enjoy. We were so impressed with their enthusiasm, responsibility and independence throughout this project. As part of their preparation, they wrote professional letters to local businesses to request support and donations. Their hard work and confidence really paid off, and they received lots of generous donations from local businesses to support the day. Enterprise Day was a fantastic success and the children should be very proud of everything they achieved.
Year 6 also put on an amazing production. Performing an hour-and-a-half show, complete with seven songs and dances, was no small task, but the children approached it with confidence, energy and determination. It was wonderful to see them grow in confidence on stage and support one another throughout rehearsals and performances.
The children also shared their Leavers’ Assembly, where they reflected on their memories from primary school. It was a lovely opportunity to celebrate their journey, the friendships they have made and the special moments that have shaped their time at Little Harrowden.
In class, the children took part in a washing machine project, where they became washing machine makers. They had to think carefully about budgeting, buying and selling materials in order to create their final products. This challenged them to consider cost, profit and design, while also developing their teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Year 6 also completed a theme park project, where they had to budget carefully, design their own theme park and write persuasive letters to the council to explain why their ideas should be approved. This project brought together maths, English and creative thinking, and the children produced some fantastic ideas.
To celebrate all of their hard work, Year 6 also enjoyed a brilliant trip to Hollywood Bowl. It was a lovely opportunity for the children to relax, have fun together and enjoy making more memories with their friends before the end of their primary school journey.
It has been a wonderful, busy and emotional final term. We are incredibly proud of everything Lavender Class have achieved and the maturity, resilience and positivity they have shown as they prepare for their next chapter.

Wellbeing Wishes
As we reach the end of another busy school year, it’s the perfect moment to pause and celebrate the many ways our school community has grown, supported one another, and strengthened our shared commitment to learning and wellbeing. This year has been full of small triumphs, big steps forward, and countless moments of kindness that reflect the heart of Little Harrowden.
Strong emotional literacy across the school
Through weekly PSHE sessions, circle times and assemblies along with our continued use of Zones of Regulation and no outsiders, pupils have become more confident in naming their feelings and asking for help when they need it.
Access to specialist mental health support
Children and families have continued to benefit from our partnership with the Mental Health Support Team (MHST), who provide early intervention, guidance, and targeted support. Alongside MHST, we work closely with a range of external agencies to ensure that pupils and families can access the right help at the right time, strengthening our whole-school approach to mental health and wellbeing.
Peer relationships flourishing
Our playleaders, friendship bench, and mixed-age activities such as the buddy system have helped children build supportive friendships and develop their social skills.
A calmer, more mindful school environment
Teachers have embedded short mindfulness moments into the school day—breathing exercises and movement breaks to support learning and wellbeing.

Inclusion Corner
As we come to the end of this academic year, it feels a good moment to reflect on the importance of inclusion within our school community. Over the past year, we have continued to grow a culture where children are supported as individuals and where differences are recognised, respected and celebrated. It has been a real privilege, in my first year at Little Harrowden, to see how warmly our community embraces every child and supports one another.

For families seeking activities during the summer holidays, Grow Wild Outreach is running a SEND Summer Holiday Club for children and young people with additional needs, offering outdoor adventures, new experiences and opportunities to build confidence in a supportive environment. Looking ahead to the new academic year, All Things Inclusion and Autism is offering a range of online workshops for parents and carers, covering topics such as PDA, ADHD, sensory processing, sleep, communication, Autism and Girls, and AuDHD. These sessions provide practical strategies and valuable insights to support children and young people with additional needs. We are thrilled to announce the arrival of baby Forestiero,  who has joined our Little Harrowden family. Baby Finley arrived in late May and all is well.
 We say farewell at the end of term to Miss Harries and Mrs Hisee. A big thank you for all of their hard work and dedication to the children of Little Harrowden, and our best wishes go with you for the future.
Mia in Daisy class  completed the Cancer Research 5K muddy run in June. She came 5th in a field of over 700 children. Well done Mia!
