As we come to the end of another busy half term, I would like to take a moment to recognise our wonderful Year 6 children as they completed their SATs this week. They have worked incredibly hard throughout the year and have approached every challenge with determination, maturity and positivity. During the lead up to SATs, they truly demonstrated our school values of kindness is key, respect, responsibility and resilience as they supported one another and showed great encouragement as a class.

Throughout SATs week itself, Year 6 continued to make us immensely proud with their fantastic attitude and calm approach. They tackled each day with confidence and perseverance and it was lovely to see them rewarded with a celebratory breakfast on Friday which was kindly organised by Mrs Walton. This was a wonderful opportunity for the children to relax together and celebrate all of their hard work and achievements.

As SATs are now behind them, Year 6 are looking forward to an exciting and memorable final half term at primary school. With events such as Sports Day, Enterprise Day, the Year 5 and 6 Summer Show, the Leavers’ Assembly and, of course, the Leavers’ Disco still to come, there is much to enjoy and celebrate together. We are so very proud of every single one of them and look forward to making many more special memories in the weeks ahead.

We are so proud of the fantastic progress the children have continued to make this Summer term. They have settled confidently into new learning experiences and have shown growing independence, curiosity and enthusiasm across all areas of the curriculum.

This term, our topic Farm and Growing has truly captured the children’s imaginations. The children have loved learning about what a farm is, exploring different types of farms and finding out more about farms across the United Kingdom, alongside learning about the countries that make up the UK.

Our farm role play area has once again been a huge success! The children have thoroughly enjoyed pretending to harvest the fruits and vegetables growing on the farm before selling them in our very own farm shop. It has been wonderful to see the children using their imaginations, developing their communication skills and applying new vocabulary within their play.

In English, we have been focusing on the story Jack and the Jelly Beanstalk. The children have shown great excitement and creativity throughout this topic and have produced some amazing writing. We have been particularly impressed with the children’s growing confidence when using ambitious vocabulary and developing their ideas independently.

In Science, the children have been learning about what plants need to grow and exploring the life cycle of a bean. They have loved making careful observations of our bean plants and sunflower seeds as they grow and change over time, showing great enthusiasm and curiosity during our investigations.

In Design and Technology, the children have enjoyed tasting a variety of fruits before planning and making their own smoothies and fruit salads. They showed fantastic independence when preparing the fruit and were very excited to taste their finished creations!

One of the highlights of the term has definitely been the arrival of our duck eggs. The children were fascinated watching the ducklings hatch and have thoroughly enjoyed helping to look after them. This experience created lots of excitement and curiosity and gave the children a wonderful opportunity to learn about growth and caring for living things first-hand.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to an exciting final few weeks of term ahead, filled with lots more learning, fun and memorable experiences to come.

This half-term, the children have really enjoyed exploring our topic, 'George and the Dragon', inspired by the wonderful story by Christopher Wormell. The theme has provided many exciting opportunities for creative writing and we are incredibly proud of the progress the children have made. They have worked hard to develop their ideas, improve their sentence structure and build their confidence as writers. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and imagination shine through in their work and they should all feel very proud of their achievements.

In Maths, Daisy class have been focusing on multiplication and division and fractions. They have taken part in a range of practical activities to help deepen their understanding and build confidence when using different strategies. The hands-on learning opportunities have been particularly valuable in helping the children apply their skills in a fun and engaging way. We have been so pleased with the positive attitudes and perseverance they have shown during lessons.  We also had a visit from the fire brigade to conclude our Great Fire of London topic!

In Science, the children have been learning about animals and their habitats and they have enjoyed discovering how different animals survive and adapt to their environments. Alongside this, Music lessons continue to be a real highlight of the week. The children love singing together and it is always a pleasure to hear their enthusiasm and growing confidence. Overall, we are extremely pleased with the progress the children are making across the curriculum and are delighted with the effort, resilience and positivity they bring to school each day. We are really looking forward to continuing to see them flourish during the final half-term!

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a fantastic start to the summer term in Primrose Class, with everyone returning focused, positive, and ready to learn. It has been wonderful to see the children settling back into routines so quickly and showing such enthusiasm across all areas of the curriculum.

In Maths, we have started learning about fractions and equivalent fractions. The children have been working hard to recognise different fractions and understand how some fractions can represent the same amount. You can support this learning at home by discussing fractions in a practical way during everyday activities. For example, when sharing food such as pizza, toast, or cakes, encourage your child to talk about halves, quarters, and other equal parts.

In English, the children have produced some brilliant stories about “professional” animals. Their creativity and imagination have really shone through, and it has been lovely to see them developing their confidence as writers. We have also written information texts comparing life in the Stone Age with modern life today. The children have worked particularly hard on including key grammatical features such as prepositions and fronted adverbials, and it has been great to see how much progress they are making with these skills.

In Computing, we are working on creating our own short animation clips. The children have enjoyed exploring how animations are made and are beginning to develop their own creative ideas using digital technology.

In Art, we have been using clay to create our own pieces of artwork. The children demonstrated some fantastic creative skills and showed great perseverance while shaping and refining their designs.

In History, we are exploring life in the Stone Age. The children have been fascinated by learning about how people lived, what they ate, and how life has changed over time. They have asked some thoughtful questions and shown a real interest in the topic.

In PE, we have been focusing on rugby skills. We have been very impressed with how the children’s teamwork, passing, and movement skills are developing. We ended with a mini tag rugby game, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

In PSHE, we have been learning about relationships, both with each other and with people online. This has included discussions around online safety and how to stay respectful and safe when communicating with others.

Overall, it has been a wonderful half term and we are extremely proud of the effort, enthusiasm, and positive attitude the children continue to show each day.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

This term has been a busy and exciting one for Year 4!

In Science, the children explored the topic of teeth, learning about the different types, their functions, and how to care for them. They were fascinated to discover how diet and hygiene impact dental health and enjoyed designing meals based on the diet choices people make.

In English, the class developed their storytelling skills through a unit titled Journey, inspired by a beautiful picture book. Using vivid imagination and descriptive language, the children created their own narratives, focusing on character development and setting. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as writers.

Geography lessons focused on maps, where pupils learned how to read and interpret different types, including using keys, symbols, and grid references. They also began to understand how maps help us navigate and understand the world around us. We enjoyed looking in atlases and identifying the equator and the tropics.

A particular highlight this term has been the start of samba drumming lessons with NMPAT. The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning rhythms, working together, and building their musical confidence. Overall, it has been a term full of creativity, curiosity, and achievement.

It has been a pleasure to join the Year 4 team this term; I can’t wait to continue our learning!

Orchid Class have had another incredibly busy and exciting term, filled with creativity, curiosity and thoughtful learning across the curriculum. In English, we immersed ourselves in the world of World War II, writing non-chronological reports about what life was like for children living in Britain during the war. To bring our learning to life, we even sampled wartime foods such as corned beef and mock banana sandwiches — which definitely divided opinion and became a real love-or-hate experience! We also explored the powerful story Rose Blanche, using it as inspiration for our own narratives, alongside writing thoughtful line poetry about soldiers. It has been wonderful to see the children’s growing maturity and confidence in their writing throughout the year.

In Maths, we explored shape and angles using protractors, alongside developing our understanding of statistics, perimeter and area. The children have shown increasing confidence when applying their mathematical skills and reasoning. Science lessons focused on the life cycles of animals, including humans, with pupils taking part in exciting “be the teacher” activities and life cycle hunts around the playground to reinforce their learning in practical and memorable ways.

Our History learning has continued our World War II topic, where we explored the causes of the war, what daily life was like and even practised hiding in shelters as part of a role-play experience. In RE, we continued learning about Sikhism, discussing important beliefs such as equality, helping others, respect for all people and women’s rights. PE lessons developed football and cricket skills, with children showing teamwork, resilience and determination. In Art, we explored mood in artwork through colour theory and colour wheels, studying artists including Piet Mondrian and David Hockney before creating our own final pieces inspired by Yayoi Kusama. Music lessons were full of energy as we sang and played along to Dancing in the Street, while in French we focused on using verbs confidently. PSHE lessons centred around healthy bodies and making positive choices. It has been another fantastic term in Orchid Class, and we are so proud of the enthusiasm and effort the children continue to show every day.

Lavender Class have had an incredibly busy and focused term, showing fantastic determination, maturity and resilience as they prepared for their SATs. The children have worked so hard across Reading, Maths and Grammar, approaching revision with a positive attitude and growing confidence. It has been lovely to see them supporting one another, celebrating progress and tackling tricky questions with perseverance.

In English, the children completed some brilliant writing inspired by the eerie short film Alma. They explored how to build suspense, create atmosphere and develop character, using carefully chosen vocabulary and description to keep the reader engaged. Their finished pieces showed just how much progress they have made as writers, particularly in their ability to control mood and tension.

In Maths, we have been revising and strengthening key skills, including coordinates, reflections and translations. The children have worked hard to become more accurate when reading and plotting coordinates, as well as describing movement and position using mathematical language. They have shown great focus when applying these skills to SATs-style questions.

In Reading, we have been practising how to structure written responses using point, evidence and explain. The children have become more confident in finding evidence from the text and using it to support their answers clearly. This has really helped them to develop more thoughtful and detailed responses.

Our History learning has focused on the Gunpowder Plot. The children were fascinated by the events of 1605 and enjoyed exploring the motives behind the plot, the key people involved and how the events unfolded. They asked thoughtful questions and made links between religion, power and conflict during this period of British history.

In PE, Lavender Class have been developing their football skills, including passing, dribbling, defending and teamwork. It has been great to see their confidence grow, particularly when working together in small-sided games and applying tactics fairly and respectfully.

This term may have involved lots of revision, but Lavender Class have shown a fantastic attitude throughout. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, determination and the way they have continued to approach their learning with enthusiasm. Well done, Lavender Class!

Wellbeing Wishes

As we move through the Summer Term, it has been wonderful to see our pupils embracing new learning, growing friendships, and the brighter days ahead.

Children have been working hard on building positive relationships, showing kindness, and supporting one another. Our year five and six playleaders have been out on the playground with the younger children encouraging them to play together, facilitating games and It’s been especially encouraging to see older pupils modelling calm, respectful behaviour for younger children.

We’ve continued teaching strategies to help children recognise and manage their emotions. Through activities such as mindfulness moments, breathing exercises, and “brain breaks,” pupils are learning how to stay calm and focused during the school day.

As we move towards the summer term, we will continue to work together following our school ethos of ‘kindness is key’.

If you have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing or would like to discuss support options, please speak to your child’s class teacher or contact Mrs Tibbs.

🌈 Inclusion Corner

At our school, we are committed to making sure every child feels valued, supported, and included in all areas of school life. We see inclusion as creating a positive, nurturing environment where all families feel welcomed, listened to, and able to grow together.

We were also proud to mark Autism Acceptance Month in April, including a special assembly led by Enfold, who shared important messages about understanding, acceptance and celebrating differences. Enfold is a local charity supporting autistic children, young people and their families by offering advice, peer support and services to help navigate everyday challenges.

We understand that finding the right support for your child can sometimes feel uncertain, and we want you to know that support is always available. For clear, parent‑friendly advice, the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS) provides free, impartial guidance to help you explore options and feel more confident in supporting your child.
